What would you do if you accidentally cross over into the world of a script, and become the heroine who is abandoned and abused to death by the villainous hero?
Song Xiao Yu does not need to think about it. Without a doubt, she would run away as far as she can. However, no matter how hard she tries, the “plot” will always push her to the hero, Nan Heng, and stage one famous scene in the script, after another…
In this world of a script, there are also countless characters that have been “set” for a long time. Some people are trapped in the deep palace, some are trapped in aristocratic families, some are tired of competition amongst women, and some are running away from those in power. Some people yearn for love and freedom, but they can only dance around in shackles. Some people dream of rising rapidly, but their passion gets worn away by constraints and mediocrity day after day.
This is not only a fierce battle between the death fearing “salted fish”, Song Xiao Yu, and the vicious and merciless “grim reaper”, Nan Heng, but also the battle between every script character and their established fate.
Episode 20:
To be honest, I kinda liked Ting Ting at first, but since she had a crush on Li Shi Liu, I was hoping she wouldn’t become the kind who was unreasonable. And then in the last two episodes…..she was exactly like that.
To be fair, Ting Ting was being unreasonable by forcing “Li Shi Liu” to go on a date with her first. He even tried to be nice and draw a line, but she refused to take no for an answer, so he had to pretend to be mean to put an end to it. If the genders were switched and the guy was forcefully pursuing a girl like that, it’d be just as uncomfortable to watch. All that talk in the past about dignity and not needing a man from her just feels like BS now. Because if she really meant it, she wouldn’t put herself in such a pathetic situation. Then again…her personality and Nan Rui’s personality are quite similar in this aspect.
Anyway, Shangguan He was wrong for saying those mean things just to hurt her feelings, but he was also getting cornered and ended up doing something extreme. If he didn’t play nice at first, I’d say it’s entirely on him. But as a viewer, Ting Ting was really getting on my nerves, so imagine being in Shangguan He’s position. If she took no for an answer and respected his feelings, he wouldn’t need to hurt her feelings on purpose.
I wonder how Nan Heng’s gonna fix this jam with Ting Ting. Judging by the preview, I hope he won’t disappoint us. I’m really enjoying the relationship between Nan Heng and Song Yi Meng so far. It’s a battle of wits between them. I hope Yi Meng sees Nan Heng as a good person first before finding out he’s Li Shi Liu. I can tell she’s wavering now, but that uncle made things worse again. Ugh. Seriously, that uncle must be behind every misunderstanding between Nan Heng and Chu Gui Hong too.
This drama is seriously such a fun one!! Each episode gets funnier. Love the music they used to make the scenes funnier. Liu Yuning and Li Yitong played their roles so well and both are nailing the comedy in this. XD Enjoying each episode so much!!
Was watching this on iq*y* and people kept hating on the FL because she thinks ML is the bad guy. Seriously, there was no reason for FL to think otherwise of him with what happened between them so far. All ML had done as the 7th prince was threatening her and trying to kill her. And people find the FL annoying because she’s just acting like a normal person would instead of being a hopeless romantic falling in love with the ML for no reason *rolleyes. Song Yiyu in present day even criticized scripts with FLs like this. It’s hilarious how there are viewers who actually hate the FL for the exact reason.
First time watching Li Yitong and she has become a favorite. She’s sooo good with expressions and even her tone was so good. I don’t know if it feels different for people who don’t understand Chinese, but as someone who understands the language, the way she delivered her lines was amazing. It really made things funny and not cringey at all.
Honestly loving both leads’ performance here. Loving both their characters. The story is fun, the characters are fun. And the side characters around 7th prince are fun too. I do wonder if we’ll get more scenes with FL’s sister though. Love that the sister, who had an affair with ML in the original script, turned out to be unconventional and doesn’t seem like a bad person here? But that also doesn’t mean she wouldn’t fall in love with ML…
First 10 episodes have been great so far and I hope it carries on until the end! Love the shift and progress in character and relationship between the FL and ML.
In some ways, the character and relationships development are more realistic in this comedy than in most “serious” dramas.
dreaming about a script is a parody drama of about ancient dramas. Main characters are actors and actresses discussing a script for an ancient drama.
