A female university student is stalked and killed by a man. A local newspaper reveals that a police officer delayed processing her complaint to go on a trip, causing turmoil in the prefectural police station as they search for the leak’s source. Moriguchi Izumi, working in the police station’s public relations, suspects her best friend, reporter Tsumura Chika, of leaking the information, but Tsumura denies it. A week later, Tsumura is found dead, and Moriguchi, filled with guilt, begins investigating her friend’s death.
